Instructor Bio
Pheyland Barthen started his martial arts journey at the age of 7. With over 40 years of martial arts experience, Pheyland holds an 8th degree Black Belt in American Karate, 8th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and holds a Black Belt in Idai Ryu Aiki Jujitsu. In December of 2020, The Combat Aiki Jitsu Federation honored him with the rank of 8th degree black belt. He has over 20 years of teaching experience and has had the opportunity to train and work with 5 time World Champion Troy Dorsey, National Champion Brian Dorsey, 10th degree Black Belt Richard Morris, and has sat under the teaching of the legendary Jim Harrison, Skipper Mullins, and Carlos Machado, among others. Pheyland is currently serving on and teaching control tactics for the Heritage of Faith Security team with team members from Kenneth Copeland Ministries.
Pheyland and his wife Natalie reside in Ft. Worth, TX and are in full time music ministry. He teaches Martial Arts and Self Defense seminars with classes for beginners and advanced students. His classes teach simple, effective, and practical self defense for real life situations.
